Introduction
PRP is platelet-rich plasma this therapy is very old its uses are not limited to hair only but in the surgical field and in diabetic patients and healing ulcers PRP is used in the past but for the last 10 to 15 years its use in male pattern hair loss has started increasing because along with medication PRP is showing very good results in male and female hair loss patients so let’s see what’s this PRP What is the PRP therapy for hair loss.
Platelet-rich plasma is the full form of PRP its long-term use like 3 to 5 sessions of PRP will give you very good results in androgenic alopecia in males and females also it gives improvement in telogen effluvium. The plasma that we use in this therapy contains aggregate of platelets and from platelets we get platelet-derived growth factors (PDGF) Is the family of growth factors that plays a crucial role in cell growth wound healing and angiogenesis (blood vessel formation)
1st step
1st step of PRP or for any hair loss concern is consultation. Visit your nearest dermatologist then he will examine you and after a microscopic examination he will suggest better treatment options
2nd Step
Blood collection We collect near about 10 ml of your blood from your cubital veins (from your hands ) And pour it into PRP tubes you feel just one prick sensation.
3rd Step
Centrifugation of the PRP tube is then placed in a centrifuge machine and after 15 minutes PRP is ready because of the centrifugation process plasma gets separated from other blood components and gets settled above the red blood.
4th Step
Collection of plasma We collect plasma from PRP tube in small insulin syringes, normally in 10 ml of blood we get 3 to 5 ml of plasma But it varies from person to person
5th step
Cleaning of the scalp for PRP insertion We clean the scalp with an antiseptic solution to avoid any chance of secondary infection after PRP as we inject PRP into the skin of the scalp it’s very superficial and we use an insulin syringe with a very small needle so there are very fewer chances of any infection and minimal pain
6th Step
Anesthesia application We can use 2 types of anesthesia one topical form that gives mild pricking sensations and 2nd one ring block anesthesia for painless procedure Topical form has no side effects and the local ring block is also very safe compared to other anesthesia.
7th Step
PRP insertion After topical anesthesia we inject plasma into the skin at the roots of hair follicles and try to cover the entire scalp from front to crown with multiple injections with from 5 to 10-cm distance in between each injection
The cost of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy or treatment in Pune varies, but generally varies between ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 per session. Prices can fluctuate based on factors like the clinic, dermatologist’s experience, and the specific treatment area or number of sessions required.
The most important advantages of PRP is that it has no side effects apart from mild prick sensations that we feel With 3 to 5 sessions of PRP you will notice there is very less hair fall and increase in density also existing miniaturized hair follicles over time will get thicker and healthy and we can notice change of grade of baldness from higher grade to lower grade
Mild discomfort and pain are the most common side effects of PRP other than this there is no side effects noted with PRP treatment.
